Daily regimen for children aged 1 to 3 years

The organism of children at an early age is in a much closer relationship with nature than that of mature people.
The daily routine is of great importance, both from a psychological and physiological point of view.

Young children get used to a certain schedule very easily.

If they are fed, put to sleep, taken for a walk at the same time, then no difficulties would arise – they are not capricious and during the day they are calm and, most importantly, in the same mood .

An important place in the daily routine is occupied by sleep.

Toward the end of the first year of a person’s life, the total duration of his sleep decreases to 15 hours, but the duration of the night should remain unchanged until the age of 3, with an increase in the time of wakefulness during the light part of the day.< /p>

From the middle of the 2nd year of life, children, as usual, sleep during the day 1 time during the day and are awake within 2 intervals of time of 5-6 hours.

After 2 years of age, babies usually sleep during the day for about 2 hours, and are awake twice for 6 hours.

How does the duration of wakefulness, sleep and the amount of meals change at the age of 1-3 years?

• At the age of 1-1.5 years – The number of meals should be 4, the maximum amount of wakefulness – 3, 5-4.5 years. The total duration of sleep should be 14.5-13.5 hours, with the number of periods of sleep during the light part of the day being 2.

• 1.5-2 years of age – meals should be 4, the maximum duration of wakefulness is 4.5-5.5 hours, the intervals between meals – 3.5-4 hours.

The total duration of sleep should be 13.5-12.5 hours, divided into 2 periods – 1 shorter during the day and 1 longer during the dark part of the day.

• When the child is 3 years old – amount of meals -4; maximum duration of wakefulness – 5.5-6.0 hours, time intervals between meals – 4.0-4.5 hours, the total duration of sleep is recommended to be 12.5-12.0 hours.

The child should be put to sleep at the same time, in a quiet place in his cradle. Before that, the room in which the crib is located must be ventilated, and the baby must be swaddled slightly without being wrapped.

It is good when the child goes to sleep to stay with him for a while – you can sing him a lullaby, tell him a short calm story.

Before bedtime, it is not recommended to organize noisy games – it is best to do this in the first half of the day, that is, until the early afternoon at the latest.

This is important to note as most parents come home from work after 6pm and after dinner they are ready to play with their children and then it is time for them to go to bed.

It is best for parents to play quietly with their child or read a book together a few hours before going to bed.

The child should not be taught to fall asleep in complete silence. In such a case, it will wake up at the slightest noise and its sleep will become restless.

It is important for the child to learn to get ready for bed by himself – to undress and put on his pajamas on his own, to help make the bed, to let himself fall asleep with his favorite stuffed toy. This will help him sleep peacefully.
