Why is listening to music good for health?

Music is a powerful medicine. It will not only literally force us to jump to our feet and forget for a while about the stress and worries that have occupied our thoughts for most of the day.

A study conducted by the journal Frontiers in Psychology found that when patients suffering from fibromyalgia listened to music they liked for 10 minutes – a variety of styles from pop to folk to classical with a beat slower than 120 beats per minute, they felt much less pain characteristic of the disease compared to listening to pink noise.

Spontaneous increase in activity was observed in the participants when listening to the music.

Music will help you focus

The next time you’re preparing to present a work project or trying to absorb some information, listen to some Vivaldi or Bach.

A 2007 study by the Stanford University School of Medicine found that listening to music from the late Baroque period causes changes in the brain that favor attention retention and promote for the easier storage of events and facts in the memory.

Just the thought of physical strain is unpleasant for most of us and it is by listening to music that we will divert our attention from the unpleasant sensations we experience during the performance of a given exercise.

And it has been scientifically proven that by listening to our favorite songs we subtly do more repetitions when performing an exercise than we would without musical accompaniment.
