How the name affects the behavior of the child

The relationship between a person’s name and character has been studied for a long time. And finally scientists proved that it really exists.

When choosing a name for the child, most parents approach extremely responsibly. Some try to choose a less common name, with which their child in the period of childhood will stand out from the crowd with other children .

While other parents are of the opposite opinion, according to them, if their child has a standard name, he will be able to avoid possible future bullying at school.

However, as it turned out, the name can affect not only the relationship with other peers, but also the performance in school.

Scientists conducted a study by analyzing the names of 63,000 children and found that the best behavior and success in school were those who bore the name Jacob /the most popular name in the US in 2000/ and Amy.

Immediately behind them are Georgia and Daniel. And with the worst performance are the girls named Ella and Bethany and the boys – Joseph and Cameron.

Also in the naughty category are boys named William, Jake, Joshua and Jamie. And the girls – Olivia, Laura and Holly.

In the course of the study, it was also found that boys with unusual and unusual names dropped out of school much more often than those who had a more common name.

The children, named Grace, Charlotte, Sophie, Thomas, Adam and Harry, were also found to be on good behaviour.

Why is it difficult to say for sure if such a connection really exists?

Psychologists have long associated the influence of the name on the fate of a person and not from esoteric, but from purely scientific and social factors.

For example, a girl named Eleanor is 100 times more likely to go to the prestigious Oxford University than a girl named Jade, even though Jade is considered the most popular name. Oxford students also became children named Anna, Elizabeth, Richard and John. And at the same time, there are almost no students with the names Stacey, Connor, Bradley, Shannon and Shane.

Similar studies on the names common in Bulgaria and in most EU countries have not been conducted.
But is it possible that you have observations in this direction?
