Does Resveratrol Stop Aging?

As a result of their vital activities such as eating, breathing and generally being, cells produce millions of waste molecules called free radicals.

The body itself is able to neutralize and expel them naturally without the need for external help, but this ability deteriorates over time and lifestyle.

When the amount of free radicals that it is unable to neutralize increases, the body imperceptibly falls into a state of oxidative stress.

This condition causes tissue damage, which can include, for example, skin abnormalities.

Over time, however, the excessive amount of free radicals negatively affects the body.

Today it is known that oxidative stress is the main cause of premature aging processes and is the basis of most diseases.

The human body is not the same at the age of 20 and 50

Each of the body’s cells forms threads in the form of roots, a process that takes only energy.

In fact, it is estimated that between 1 and 3% of the oxygen we inhale turns into waste – free radicals. It is possible that they are toxic, as with smoking, when with just one puff of a cigarette, several million free radicals fall directly into our body.

Cells make enzymes, such as glutathione, that bind to free radicals and neutralize them. They are our natural body antioxidants.

But at the age of 50, the body produces 36% less of these substances compared to the age of 20.

In addition to smoking, obesity and a sedentary lifestyle, oxidative stress for the body is added.

This is the reason why free radicals manage to overcome the body’s natural defenses and “look” for another victim such as cell membranes, mitochondria, DNA.

Initially they cause localized damage, and over time they become generalized, which is also the cause of premature aging and diseases.

Does resveratrol really stop aging?

Oxidative stress slows the transmission of nerve signals and the metabolic abilities of cells, weakens the functions of the lungs and the heart.

The first abnormalities can be noticed at the tissue level, where conditions are created for the formation of tumors, genetic mutations, apoptosis and premature cell death.

But subsequently these abnormalities cover the whole body. There are almost no chronic diseases in which oxidative stress is not essential.

Scientists define as a scientific revolution the discovery of the antioxidant properties of two plant enzymes: resveratrol /in the largest quantity contained in the outer shell of the grape seed/ and pterostilbene /found in the largest quantities in blueberries/ which are defined as polyphenols.

These two compounds provide a mechanism of action that differs from that of previously known antioxidants. Polyphenols instead of scavenging free radicals, like vitamins, they create an indirect antioxidant effect by inducing the formation of other antioxidants of the body’s own.

At any age, these new antioxidants stimulate the formation of new mitochondria, which are a component of the cells in which the respiratory process takes place, in which energy is released.

Absolutely the same effect is achieved by moderate physical exercises such as brisk walking or jogging. But unlike physical exertion, which causes exhaustion of the body, through the action of resveratrol an increase in the body’s energy capacity is achieved.
